Italian Meatballs

I’m not a big fan of spaghetti and meatballs, but if you hand me a meatball sandwich made with these bad boys, I won’t say no!  Split some long soft rolls, line the inside with slices of smoked provolone cheese and place three meatballs inside with some marinara.  Alternatively, you can split a baguette, and do the same thing.  Of course, if you want to have them with spaghetti, have at it – far be it from me to impose my views on you, don’t you know…
1½ lb. Italian sausage (link or bulk)
1½ lb. Lean ground beef
1 bulb Fresh garlic, minced
½ Medium onion, finely chopped
1 Tbs. Dry Italian seasoning
¼ cup Fresh basil, finely chopped
¾ cup Plain bread crumbs
A/R Ground pepper
4 Eggs
1 Tsp. Tabasco
12 oz. Mozzarella cheese, cubed ½” X ½”
A/R Pam® Olive Oil cooking spray
32 oz. jar Marinara sauce
 In a large bowl, mix together the first 10 ingredients until well blended.  Take a mozzarella cube, and shape the meat mixture around it so it’s just a little larger than a golf ball.  As you make each meatball, put it in a large pan (which you’ve sprayed with Pam®).  You can pack them fairly tightly since they shrink as they cook.  Once you’ve filled the pan, bake in a preheated 400° oven for about 40 minutes.  Take out of the oven, transfer to a large pot, add the jar of marinara, and simmer (covered) under the lowest heat for 15 minutes.  Eat.
